ABOUT US

Our Process:

  • Study the link between poverty and human trafficking by assuming the likeness of the homeless -not just in appearence, but in lifestyle (carrying little money, sleeping on the street). This allows for first hand observations and genuine experiences as well as teaches us best how to serve those in our community and folks in need, generally.

  • Arrange meetings with local and national organizations, and then community groups, churches, schools and businesses, we support and introduce different efforts to unite in the common goal of ending human trafficking.

  • Present our experiences and understanding of human trafficking to those unaware, and encourage those who are to share and make aware, and then make change in their community

LONG TERM GOALS:

What is being built? - safe houses (similar to the Magdalene House St Louis/Thistle Farms)

Why it is being built? - Some of the best recovery is in home, where people feel most comfortable. The design would mimic a rehabilitation center while being disguised, but functioning, as a “normal” home. There is a lack of care/opportunity for men and women in transition from trafficking. This model is the best way to address their needs.

 The project is designed to not only aid a subculture of men and women, but to help change the culture overall.  The Project advocates for women and men who are recovering from forced labor, sexual abuse, violence, rescued from organ harvesting, and life on the streets -a life demanded by a culture that buys and sells people like commodities.

Worthwhile:GO will:

  • Provide a safe, pleasant home environment based on a community living model;

  • Help residents to live honest, sober, and self-sufficient lives;

  • Provide educational and vocational opportunities;

  • Foster self-understanding through personal and spiritual growth counseling;

  • Provide life-skill building and maintenance education;

  • Provide a mechanism for income and asset development through Individual Development Accounts; and

  • Offer opportunities to work towards economic self-sufficiency in a therapeutic work environment through a social enterprise, either one that is LRTF-based or made available through a partner.

Worthwhile: GO's programs advocate living gracefully in community with one another. New residents are given a key and are offered the necessary resources to maintain recovery, heal from childhood wounds, become physically healthy and find employment. Residents, graduates, staff and volunteers share daily tasks, offer hospitality, build on each other’s strengths, and provide compassionate, disciplined support.

 SHORT TERM GOALS:

  • To spread awareness of modern-day slavery, forced prostitution, abuse of children in relating fields, and all surrounding issues;

  • To catalyze interest and direct it towards methods of fighting the above issues;

  • To directly raise funds to aid in the first year of a survivor that worked with and inspires the Project after completing Exodus Cry's recovery program.
